Introduction
What is Botbit?
Section titled “What is Botbit?”Botbit is a configuration management platform for robot fleets. It tracks every physical component by serial number and maintains a complete audit trail as your robots evolve in the field.
The Problem
Section titled “The Problem”Robotics teams face a common challenge: configuration drift. Robots change over time:
- Components get swapped during maintenance
- Hardware upgrades happen in the field
- Design improvements get retrofitted
- Failed parts get replaced with alternatives
Without proper tracking, you lose visibility into what’s actually installed where. Support becomes difficult. Warranty claims require detective work. Fleet standardization is impossible to measure.
The Solution

Component-Level Tracking
Section titled “Component-Level Tracking”Every physical part is tracked by serial number. When you swap a battery, Botbit logs:
- Which battery was removed (including serial number)
- Which battery was installed (including serial number)
- Who made the change
- When it happened
- Whether this change created a configuration variant
Automatic Versioning
Section titled “Automatic Versioning”When you make a non-conformant change (like upgrading a LiDAR sensor to a better model), Botbit automatically:
- Increments the robot’s version number (e.g., 1.0 → 2.0)
- Creates a configuration variant capturing the new state
- Logs the change to the robot’s history
- Recalculates conformance percentage
Conformance Monitoring
Section titled “Conformance Monitoring”Botbit calculates how closely each robot matches its original design. This gives you instant visibility into fleet standardization:
- 100% conformant: Robot matches original design exactly
- 87% conformant: Robot has some modifications
- 62% conformant: Robot has diverged significantly
Maintenance Automation
Section titled “Maintenance Automation”Create maintenance rules on build configurations. Tasks generate automatically based on time intervals and track through to completion.
